Job summary An opportunity to become a Mental Health Practitioner in Malvern has arisen, which is a great opportunity to flex and develop your skills in working with people with a wide range of mental health-related needs in a creative way, supported by a close-knit, warm and friendly team. Your role includes representing our service within a GP surgery, acting as a point of expert contact for GPs and other professions working within a defined locality. It also involves the exercise of considerable autonomy, though with support readily available and is perhaps unique in terms of the range and variety of people for whom you will be providing care, as well as being a role that involves learning skills for managing longer-term therapeutic relationships. Your working day will involve spending time both at our base with the team, as well as time out at GPs and in the community. Homeworking, in-keeping with the autonomy inherent to the role, is also available. Main duties of the job The role entails considerable variety no days are identical however a typical day may involve: Travelling to your GP surgery in the morning to see two new patients for assessment. While there, dropping in on one of the GPs to talk about one of the assessments and run through another proposed referral to decide on the best mental health pathway for them. Travel to base and write up the assessments and have the opportunity to talk through any concerns with fellow team members. You decide who you will be taking onto your caseload; no one allocates to you. Attending professional meetings, including ward reviews via Teams or in person to review patients in your care Attending MDT every Wednesday via Teams. Tend to work from home that day. Made some internal referrals to other team members and discussed some concerns about other patients youve been working with. Meeting some of your longer-term patients and reviewing where youve got to with their care. Its good to work from a well-established relationship.
