PA is required in Rawdon (LS19) Leeds to support a girl with Asperger's to access activities.
Seeking a suitable PA who is a driver and has their own car is essential.
Hours: 4 hours per week during term time & 6 hours during school holidays (evenings after school & possible weekends). Pay: £12.40 per hour at all times.
The role involves working with my daughter who has Asperger’s. She needs assistance to access activities in the community and transport.
I require a person who can be both caring and act as reassurance when she is feeling anxious. The personal assistant must supervise her at all times, which means adopting a hands-off approach most of the time while being aware of her vulnerability and need for safety. Although my daughter appears high-functioning, her disabilities can be overlooked.
Supervision
She needs a hands-off approach, meaning most of the time you just need to be in the room to allow her to be independent and build her confidence. At times, she will need encouragement when she lacks confidence, and reminders of appropriate respect and boundaries.
Main Duties
My daughter’s personal assistant will be required to perform the following tasks and may be asked to carry out other tasks of a similar nature:
Support Tasks
1. Accompany my daughter on days out.
2. Accompany my daughter to activities in the community.
3. Accompany my daughter to social activities.
4. Suggest activities that my daughter would enjoy.
5. Be mindful of my daughter’s safety at all times.
6. Always supervise my daughter and do not allow her to be alone, even if at a distance.
7. Use strategies to distract and encourage her when she is feeling less confident.
8. Set clear boundaries and expectations of behaviour while she is with you. My daughter is not physical in any way, but she does need clear boundaries as any teenager will push.
9. Encourage appropriate social interactions with peers and adults.
10. Any other reasonable requests I may make will be discussed first and then implemented where required.
