Band 7 Senior Support Pharmacist - Oncology

This is an exciting opportunity to join our multidisciplinary team as a band 7 rotational oncology/haematology pharmacist.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated pharmacist with excellent communication skills to use and develop their knowledge and skills to enhance the patient experience and provide safe and effective care across the service.
Applications would be welcomed from band 6 pharmacists, who have at least 12 months post-registration hospital experience, completion of first year clinical diploma or NHSE/RPS Newly Qualified Pharmacist Pathway or equivalent.
UHB is a tertiary referral Cancer Centre with 5 outpatient day case units, 4 inpatient wards, a BMT service and busy outpatient clinics. Pharmacists at UHB are well integrated into all aspects of this service, including licensed and unlicensed aseptic units, ward pharmacy activities, day unit responsibilities and a number of different pharmacists led clinics.
You will join a large team of friendly pharmacists working in both oncology and haematology. Experience of working in this field is desirable but not essential and full training will be provided. You must have a solid background of clinical hospital pharmacy and possess enthusiasm for working in this exciting area.
There is an expectation that there will be some cross site working across all UHB sites.
Main duties of the job
Work as part of our pharmacy haematology/oncology team to:
1. Clinically verify haem/onc prescriptions
2. Provide inpatient clinical pharmacy service to the haem/onc wards when at QE
3. Ensure oral SACT patients receive appropriate counselling and support with their medication
4. Support aseptic services with final release of chemotherapy products
5. Support the introduction of new medicines into the services, this may include preparing prescriptions for inclusion on the electronic prescribing system
6. Contribute to audit and research programmes as needed
7. Support the on-call rota

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Master's degree in Pharmacy or equivalent
* Completion of first year of clinical diploma or NHSE/RPS Newly Qualified Pharmacist Pathway or equivalent
* Current professional registration as a pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
* Evidence of continued Professional Development in Pharmacy related matters
Experience
* Experience working within an NHS/Healthcare environment with clinicians and other health care professionals at all levels of the organisation
* Minimum 12 months post-registration experience working in hospital pharmacy at point of application
* Previous participation in multi-disciplinary team
* Experience of managing/supervising staff/students and the delivery of training on a range of subjects
* Evidence of risk management and service improvements
* Demonstrates commitment for providing high quality pharmaceutical care
* Possesses relevant clinical knowledge in hospital pharmacy
* Knowledge of national initiatives and guidelines, e.g. NICE, NSF
* Possesses knowledge of available resources to answer Medicines Information queries
