Our National Transport and Logistics client is looking for a Customs & Operations Manager on a full-time permanent basis at their Rugby depot.

Hours: 40 Hours per week, Monday to Friday
Operating Hours: 06:00 - 20:00

The role involves managing a team of 15, split into 2 areas: Customs Export & Imports and Customer Service / Document Checking. You will have various responsibilities towards the Customer, Stakeholders, and People Management.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Direct Customer Facing Role
2. Part of the Control Tower Management team
3. Monthly visits to customer HO in Watford
4. Fully office-based role at our site in Rugby
5. 3 Direct Reports, each with a team
Role Purpose:
1. To manage the Customs teams within the Control Tower facilitating the movement of orders cross-border.
2. Lead the Customs team managing Export & Import activity along with query resolution, Proof of Exports, and tax queries.
3. Lead the team managing document checking activity along with vendor relationships, training, and bookings.
4. Accountable for Engagement, Employee development, and Succession planning across the Customs teams.
5. Responsible for the relationship with Planning, Hauliers, and Warehouse to manage cross-border movements and queries.
6. Responsible for broker management, engagement, and regular reviews of performance.
Key Tasks:
1. Responsible for the delivery of service and operational excellence in the Customs area.
2. To establish and continue the development of strong two-way relationships within the UK & EU Network with both partners and external providers.
3. Responsible for the financial performance of the Customs activity.
4. Responsible for the delivery of process and continuous improvement activities within the Customs operations.
Key Accountabilities:
1. Accountable for the achievement of EBIT for Customs and operations.
2. Accountable for the delivery of initiatives & savings across own area of responsibility.
3. Accountable for the achievement of contractual customs KPIs & ensure brokerage partners & hauliers are managed to agreed SLAs.
4. Accountable for the customer relationship with the Customs and Operations teams, measured against Customer survey results.
5. Accountable for H&S, Engagement, Broker Management, Employee development, and Succession Planning across the Customs team.
Requirements:
1. Experience in Supply Chain division, ideally with a retail customer.
2. Experience in Customs Operations, ideally between UK and EU.
3. Customs and Planning Operations Experience.
4. Customer relationship management skills.
5. People Management experience.
6. International or European experience desirable.
