Credit Controller

Location: North Carlisle (initially office-based, hybrid after probation)
NXT Recruitment is proud to be supporting a successful and growing business based in north Carlisle in their search for a credit controller. This newly created position is a result of continued business growth and offers a great opportunity to join a well-established finance team.
The successful candidate will take ownership of their own ledger and play a key role in supporting the company's ongoing success. This is an office-based role during the initial probation period (3 months), after which hybrid working will be considered, with a minimum of 2 days per week in the office. Due to the location, candidates are ideally expected to have their own transport.
Responsibilities
1. Manage your own customer ledger, consisting of #removed# accounts.
2. Prioritise workload effectively to contact customers, recover outstanding payments, and meet monthly cash collection targets.
3. Accurately allocate all forms of incoming payments to the appropriate customer accounts.
4. Communicate confidently with internal departments and branches nationwide.
5. Respond to incoming calls from customers, resolving or redirecting queries as needed.
6. Liaise with sales and branch teams to address invoice discrepancies and process credit notes in line with procedures.
7. Make informed credit limit decisions and perform account reviews, including stop lists for overdue customers.
8. Troubleshoot recurring issues and implement solutions to prevent future problems.
9. Maintain accurate records of customer credit limits and proactively request limit increases through the company's insurance provider.
10. Monitor accounts for potential bad debts and escalate appropriately following internal procedures.
Skills and Experience
1. Proven background in credit control, with a confident and professional telephone manner.
2. High level of accuracy and strong skills in Excel.
3. Previous experience with SAP Business One is beneficial.
4. Strong communication and organisational skills, with the ability to work independently.
5. Understanding of customer service operations and best practices in credit management.
6. Own transport is preferred due to the location and limited public transport links.
