Main Duties of the Job
You will fulfil the role of Deputy Ward Manager in Charge, attending to your patients' needs and supporting the ward manager whilst ensuring a safe environment for excellent care. You must be able to support the needs of our patients, their relatives and carers; which requires excellent communication and liaison skills. You must have post-registration experience including working within a busy acute environment and have completed mentorship training to be able to mentor students. You should have the confidence to voice your opinion and views as part of a multi-disciplinary team. You will be working with a wide range of experienced and friendly professionals, providing high quality of care and compassion. You will also have excellent interpersonal skills to manage, supervise and lead staff effectively.

Detailed Job Description and Main Responsibilities
* Supporting patients to function to their optimal ability. This will range from encouraging self-care to providing total physical care depending on the needs of the patient.
* Maintaining and promoting a safe environment, taking account of infection control and identifying and reporting hazards and risks in a timely manner.
* Escorting and transporting patients as required as part of their care.
* Driving unit vehicles as per needs of the service and individual capabilities.
* Depending on the environment, serving food/assisting with cooking and promoting healthy choices as required to meet individual care plans.
* Working a full range of shifts as per the requirements. May also be required, at times, to work at other Trust units and/or sites.
* Physically able to carry out all duties required of the care setting, following successful completion of physical interventions training as required.

Essential Criteria
* RMN completion of Preceptorship programme.
* Experience of Mental Health.
* Evidence of recent practice.
