Job Description Danfoss Drives is currently seeking a Manager for HW Development for high-power electrical power converters to be responsible for leading a team of experts in the development of new products for our Medium Voltage Drives product line. They will also have oversite of the preparation of designs and specifications for our medium voltage drives. This highly capable leader should also have knowledge of system level specifications and understand main component dimensioning and selections. Job Responsibilities • Oversight for designs, specifications, analysis and recommendations for development of new products or components • Leads Power Electronics/main circuit specification, component selection and simulations as well as electrical and mechanical design work • Lead and develop a small team of engineers • Lead design and component reviews • Serve as lead engineer in Power Electronics • Interface with other functional teams for development and product release • Support and give technical advice and assistance to other product development personnel regarding designs, material specifications, information sources and testing procedures Background & Skills Requirements for Education, Work Experience and Personal Characteristics: • M.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering or Power Electronics • Minimum 5 years of experience with research and development for AC Drives and/or frequency converters • Knowledge of the following: Power semiconductors (IGBTs), Power topologies, Analog Design/Control electronics, and Magnetics/Filters • Knowledge on electrical safety standards e.g., NFPA 70E • Working knowledge of computer aided engineering design and simulation tools, such as MatLab, MathCad and PSpice • Demonstrated initiative toward a practical approach to design tasks and ability to coordinate creation of demonstrators, quick prototypes/proof of concepts Important Experience and Preferred Aspects: • Experience with medium voltage (>1000 V) product development • Experience in high-power electrical power converter design • Familiarity using various test instruments, such as oscilloscopes etc. • Familiarity with PCB design software, preferably OrCAD/Cadence, is a plus • Knowledgeable and well informed on new developments in research and engineering fields • Team player and strong leadership, analytical and technical skills Danfoss – Engineering Tomorrow At Danfoss, we are engineering solutions that allow the world to use resources in smarter ways – driving the sustainable transformation of tomorrow.
