About the role…
We are currently recruiting for a CAD Manager to join our Northumbrian Water (NWG) design team. The position is required to support our expanding Water Utilities workload and will typically involve providing designs for water and wastewater, infrastructure, and non-infrastructure projects as part of a multi-disciplinary design team. This will include design delivery at all stages, from feasibility and optioneering through to detailed designs for construction and commissioning.
The specific role is required primarily to support our emerging long-term framework with Northumbrian Water Group; however, there will be ample opportunities to work on other projects and frameworks throughout the UK for a variety of clients.
This is a permanent position and will be of a hybrid nature, ideally based in or around our Durham office and NWG’s office in Pity Me; however, alternative ways of working would be given due consideration. This role requires a full driving license.
What will your day look like…
1. Oversee the entire CAD Process from initial design to final documentation.
2. Work to appropriate project controls, guidelines and procedures.
3. Lead CAD design and document control teams and other team members in undertaking a wide range of design-related tasks.
4. Lead design outputs in accordance with the company and client CAD procedures and standards.
5. Lead the development and implementation of CAD standards, ensuring consistency and accuracy.
6. Manage and mentor all grades of CAD technicians.
7. Support CAD software and hardware management licensing, performance and compatibility.
8. Manage vendor and partners' CAD management relationships.
9. Support and develop the CAD structure and activities of the business.
10. Support and promote innovation and technology.
About you…
1. A relevant degree qualification or have completed a learning agreement/apprenticeship and obtained a relevant technical qualification (HNC, HND etc.).
2. A basic understanding of the design of water/wastewater infrastructure and non-infrastructure works.
3. Have a good understanding of BIM on a project and be able to lead on its implementation.
4. Computer literate and conversant with the MS Office suite, Sharepoint and with knowledge of Autodesk Construction Cloud ACC, AutoCAD, Autodesk Bridge, Revit, Civils 3D, Datum 360 for asset management and or other related engineering packages.
5. Be familiar with water and wastewater, infrastructure and non-infrastructure design techniques and solutions.
6. Have a basic knowledge of our clients and the water market in general.
7. Strong written and oral communication and organisational skills and to produce reports in clear concise English.
8. Proven ability to work within a team environment with a dedicated approach to meet project deadlines.
9. Client-focused approach to service delivery.
10. Self-motivated with the drive to achieve continuous improvement targets.
