Sr. Project Manager
AVL Test Systems, Inc. (AVL TSI) provides customers with innovative measurement, testing, and data management solutions from prototype development through SOP. AVL offers an expansive portfolio to meet our customer needs, from outfitting complete battery labs to component testing - we provide solutions to advance our customers e-mobility projects. In North America, we commission equipment and tools, develop solutions, and create custom software. Our team provides project management, test system engineering, service, support, manufacturing and specification of solutions.
AVL TSI is looking for a Sr. Project Manager (PM) to join our team in Plymouth, MI. The Sr. PM position has the overall responsibility for the successful execution of capital equipment projects from receipt of order to final customer acceptance. Our PM team is key to ensure the organization is adhering to project and customer requirements, owning multiple projects and customers simultaneously. The Sr. PM opportunity will allow a hybrid working location with partial remote and partial onsite in Plymouth, MI, with trips to customer sites as required.
AVL is continuing to emerge into new technologies such as battery, electrification, etc. which will allow the Sr. PM position the opportunity to continue growing with the company into these areas as well as utilizing past experience & expertise. Proficient communication, teamwork and a strong work ethic are required in this role. In addition, a minimum of 5+ years' experience in Project Management is required. Industry experience is preferred, particularly, experience in powertrain testing, emissions, and/or new technologies. PMP certification is preferred. Qualified candidates must have experience managing physical deliverables.

ROLES:
* Controlling of projects with high commercial, social, and technical complexity.
* Co-ordination of Engineering, Purchasing, Manufacturing and Customer site activities.
* Managing the project initialization and planning.
* Ensures implementation of projects in compliance with all related processes to achieve targets (cost, timing, deliverables) and customer satisfaction.
* Ensures project quality gates (handovers from and to other departments, design reviews etc.) are fully complied with.
* Problem solving.
* Scope change management.
* Customer Relationship Management during project execution.
* Authority of overall budget control – manage and control contingency.
* Interface with Finance and support project accounting requirements.
* Identify new business opportunities on existing projects.
* Responsible for applying appropriate tools and methods (Quote, PRISM, risk management, open issues lists, documentation, internal project reporting, etc.)
* Proactive in escalating as appropriate to keep cost, timing, and deliverables on track while maintaining customer satisfaction.
* Conduct project lessons learned with project team and management.
* Assisting with project proposal generation.
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
* Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related.
* 5-7+ years PM experience; experience in new technologies is preferred.
* PMP certification is preferred.
* Ability to manage multiple projects with multiple customers.
* Excellent people, verbal written communication and relationship building skills.
* Excellent organizational skills.
* Demonstrated ability to manage projects with a high level of content, technical, and social complexity (stress resistant).
* High competence with MS Word, Excel, PPT, and Project.
* Awareness of and ability to accommodate personality and cultural differences.
