Job overview
We are recruiting for a Registered Nurse - Breast Oncology Specialist Support who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients. Ideally, you will have experience of looking after patients with breast cancer or relevant surgical, oncology/chemotherapy experience to support the CNS team.
The role will involve acting as a key worker for these patients supporting them at all stages of their cancer journey. We are committed to consistently providing specialised, excellent care and treatment and wish to continue in our drive to further improve the service to our patients. No two days are the same in the service, and we are looking for someone who is adaptable and eager to learn.

Main duties of the job
1. Support the CNS to be the key worker for all patients with breast cancer and work closely with the Breast Surgical and Oncology Consultants, Breast Surgical and Oncology CNS, Lister Macmillan Cancer Centre, QE2 breast unit, and ward staff to provide advice and support to patients.
2. Responsible for assessing, developing, and implementing specialist nursing care programmes.
3. Assessment, planning, implementing, and evaluating care as a practitioner with specialist skills.
4. Undertake surveys or audits in own specialty.

Person specification
Qualifications/Training
* Registered Nurse Part 1 or 12 of NMC Register
* Teaching/Assessing Qualification or equivalent.
* Studying for a Nursing Degree.
* Management training
* Nursing Degree
* Diploma in Oncology or Palliative Care Nursing
Previous Experience
* Experience of working with haematology or oncology patients.
* Ward management experience.
* Experience of assisting in Audit and Research. Change Management
* Experience of working with Cancer Patients
Skills
* Able to demonstrate a successful track record of developing professional clinical practice.
* Effective interpersonal skills
* Variety of teaching skills experience
* Experience of providing education to all levels of staff.
* Excellent presentation and organizational skills.
* Ability to work as a member of a team & autonomously
* Advanced communication and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge
* Oncology or Haematology Specialist practice experience.
