Mechanical Technician – Onsite Role
An exciting opportunity is available for a Mechanical Technician to work onsite across various industries.
Role Overview
This is a hands-on position within the field of Mechanical Engineering, focusing on the installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical equipment while ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Disassemble and assess a range of mechanical systems, including pumps, motors, gearboxes, and screens, identifying faults and required repairs
* Conduct inspections using precision measuring tools to check tolerances, shaft alignments, and overall component integrity
* Diagnose mechanical issues and troubleshoot faults using specialised equipment
* Carry out repair and refurbishment work, following technical instructions and industry best practices
* Install and commission mechanical systems onsite, ensuring they operate efficiently and meet safety standards
* Work within a multidisciplinary team, collaborating with electrical engineers and technicians on various projects
* Perform onsite removals and replacements of mechanical equipment, including tasks in confined spaces and at height when necessary
Preferred Skills & Experience
* At least five years of experience in a similar mechanical engineering role
* Recognised apprenticeship or relevant qualifications in mechanical engineering (advantageous but not essential)
* Strong understanding of mechanical systems, fault diagnosis, and repair techniques
* Knowledge of health and safety procedures and the ability to work safely in challenging environments
* Confined space awareness and experience working at heights (training can be provided)
* A valid UK driving licence is required for travel to various sites
* Ability to work independently and within a team, demonstrating excellent problem-solving skills
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
