Travel Trainer - Special Educational Needs
Permanent, Full Time
£23,344 to £25,726 per annum
Location: Colchester and throughout Essex
Working Style: Operational field-based worker
The Role
We are seeking to recruit a dynamic and energetic individual who will deliver Travel Training in classroom-based sessions in Special Educational Needs (SEN) Schools within Essex. You will be leading the classroom-based sessions educating students through a structured school-based programme.
This base location for this role is currently Colchester with the need to travel to Clacton and throughout the wider Essex County. The base for this role is negotiable and can be discussed further at interview stage.
The work will be varied focussing on developing and promoting our educational provision within schools as well as working 1-2-1 with students in various locations across Essex to train them on how to access public transport on designated routes such as their home to school journey. The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to establish rapport and trust with both the student/client and their parent/guardian.
Additional responsibilities will include:
* Undertake an element of administration.
* Update daily training records, risk assessments, and reports.
* Ability to travel across a wide geographical area in a timely and flexible manner, at various times of the day.
You will have the opportunity to undertake a Level 3 qualification in Education and Training. Achieving this award will provide you with the necessary skills and knowledge to prepare, plan, deliver and evaluate basic teaching and learning sessions in a variety of teaching or training contexts.
You will also have the opportunity to complete British Sign Language Level 1 course to help to communicate with our services users.
What you will bring
* Educated to 'A' level / NVQ level 3 within a relevant sector, plus 5 GCSE's A-C (new GCSE 4-9) including English and Maths, or equivalent experience in the field.
* Experience within an SEN or adult social care setting is essential, and you should be able to evidence your passion, energy, and enthusiasm for working within this sector.
* Knowledge of Travel Training/Transport Issues.
* Motivated to instil confidence in others whilst building strong rapport.
* Highly organised, able to manage your workload efficiently, with good IT skills and ability to meet deadlines.
* Education & Training Level 3 or expectation to complete within 12 months of joining.
Please note that the job role requires you to be mobile throughout an operational area. Therefore, the post holder will need to have a driving licence and access to a vehicle, or the ability to meet the mobility requirements of the role through other means.
