We need an experienced Payroll Team Leader to oversee and manage the day-to-day payroll operations. You will be responsible for leading a team of payroll professionals, ensuring accurate and timely processing of all payroll related tasks to ensure a quality service for our clients. With your close attention to detail, you will review payroll data, ensuring timesheets, deductions, adjustments, salaries and taxes are calculated correctly.
Using your problem solving and communication skills, you work closely with other departments to resolve payroll-related issues and support the overall organisational goals.
You will also support the smooth running and continued growth of the business through the following key areas of responsibility:
Business and Team Development:
* Meeting with existing clients and interacting with potential new clients to grow, drive and promote our payroll provision.
* Lead and manage the payroll team, including delegating tasks, setting priorities, and monitoring workload distribution to ensure timely and accurate payroll processing.
* Providing training and guidance to payroll team members to enhance their skills and ensure best practices are followed.
Enhancing compliance and efficiency:
* Ensuring compliance with HMRC, and to deliver compliant Auto Enrolment pension provision to clients and pension providers.
* Optimising processes to ensure that payroll information is collected in the most efficient manner.
* Preparing and maintaining payroll reports, including tax filings, year-end reporting, and other regulatory requirements.
* Continuously evaluating and recommending improvements to payroll processes to increase efficiency and accuracy.
Relationship Management:
* Acting as the point of contact for payroll-related inquiries from clients, management, and external stakeholders.
* Collaborating with HR and finance departments to ensure accurate data and timely resolution of payroll discrepancies.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
* Relevant qualification in accounting, finance or business administration (or related field) or Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals qualification (or equivalent work experience).
* Demonstrable payroll experience, including within in a leadership or supervisory role.
* Strong understanding of payroll regulations.
* Experience with BrightPay and BrightPay Connect.
* Excellent organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
* High attention to detail and accuracy in managing payroll data.
* Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism.
* Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
* Ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.
Work Environment:
* This is a full-time office-based position, Monday to Friday.
