Role Responsibility The Public Transport department provides a wide range of transport services for people across the county. We support the local public transport network, coordinate concessionary fares schemes and provide bespoke transport services through contracts with local transport providers. We organise transport for over 12,000 clients and manage around 3,000 individual contracts using taxis, minibuses, coaches, buses: we ensure that all transport and services meet the Council’s contractual requirements with the help of regulatory partners. Our Business Team processes payments to transport providers and ensures the Council’s money is spent correctly. To join us as a Technical Assurance Officer, you will need to be focussed on ensuring that the Council gets value for money by analysing invoices and comparing with a range of data sources. You will need the confidence to talk to all kinds of people in a professional way, even in challenging situations. Finally, you need to be organised and self-motivated, as you’ll be operating in a busy environment. Day to day, you’ll tackle a range of administrative tasks, processing invoices, investigating irregularities, arranging payments to suppliers, reconciling expenditure against budgets, as well as managing departmental income. You’ll therefore need experience in Finance or Customer Service plus appropriate academic qualifications, such as AAT Level 2 (or equivalent). Whether you’re working in the office with your team, or from home, you’ll have the freedom to manage your own workload. In return for your skills, you’ll enjoy an excellent work-life balance, access to great rewards via our exclusive schemes and the opportunity to join a range of work-based groups. We consider people to be our biggest asset, and promote a diverse and inclusive work culture. We’re also progressive and flexible in our approach, with colleagues hybrid working (partly from home and partly in the office) and we’ll provide you with all the support and training you’ll need to succeed. All we ask is that you’re brave, curious, compassionate, responsible and committed to sharing knowledge so we’re stronger together. Our values are important to us, so they need to be important to you. This post is subject to a Basic Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service. This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position.
