Dorset Healthcare are looking for enthusiastic, flexible and driven individuals to provide outstanding service as an experienced Medical Secretary in our administrative team at Christchurch Community Mental Health Team.
You will be fully supported by an experienced Team Leader, provided with all the training and tools needed to succeed in this role. Regular supervision, yearly appraisals, and opportunities to be creative and share ideas are part of our ethos of continuous improvement.

Flexibility is essential to manage the workload of this busy Community Mental Health Team. We ensure our Trust values are incorporated in everything we do, providing a patient-centered approach with recovery and wellbeing at the forefront of our care.
The working pattern is 4 days a week from 09:00 until 17:00, with a half-hour lunch break.
Main duties of the job
You will be required to provide efficient secretarial, administrative, and reception support for the team. This includes liaising with members of the public and various professionals in primary and secondary care services. Given the nature of this service, some patients may contact us in distress; we are looking for resilient applicants, and you will be provided with training and skills to manage this. With a compassionate work ethos, you will thrive with the right level of support from the Team Leader.
You should have a solid administrative background or be an experienced secretary, able to multi-task and manage your time effectively. An understanding of Office 365, including Outlook, Word, and Excel, is required, along with an outstanding telephone manner and excellent communication skills to deal with difficult patients.
You will be organized, able to motivate yourself and your colleagues, work to deadlines, and complete tasks with high accuracy and attention to detail. You will be responsible for keeping RIO, the Trust's patient record system, up to date, following data protection and GDPR legislation.
Additionally, you will provide secretarial support to the team’s medics through clinical correspondence and dictation, manage onward referrals, and attend various meetings as a minute taker. Intermediate audio typing skills are necessary.

Person Specification
Knowledge and skills
* ECDL or equivalent
* Excellent and demonstrable skills in the Microsoft Office suite and use of the Internet
* Qualifications in Typing/Word Processing equivalent to RSA Level III typing/word processing.
