At Gregory Distribution Ltd, we are currently seeking a Transport Operator for our sites in Haverfordwest and Whitland. This position will be working within the transport team and will involve all aspects of transport administration processes and the coordination of the day-to-day running of this busy contract. The successful candidate will be based in both locations to provide coverage during holidays, sickness, or training as required. Flexibility is key, as this role will involve both day and night shifts and adapting to meet the needs of the business.
The position of Transport Operator involves:
* Assist the management team to manage and motivate the drivers to ensure that staff and assets are used effectively to attain maximum performance in terms of commercial contract efficiency, profit and client service levels.
* Own the day to day running of the milk operation, including dispatching the routes on time, monitoring work in progress and debriefing drivers.
* Own the day to day running of the TMS, APEX system (Haverfordwest Only) and the milk app processes aligned to these, to ensure the smooth running of the operation as a whole.
* To ensure that GDL and customers' paperwork is completed accurately and in a timely manner.
* Maintain good working relationships with, and between, drivers and customers (including farmers) to ensure that any problems arising are handled amicably and through correct channels.
* You will also be required to work closely with our customer
* Provide regular reports to the management team on customer related and other relevant matters, making recommendations where relevant.
* Monitoring and auditing Health and Safety.
* Answering all queries via email, phone and face to face.
* Assisting in production of KPI's and daily statistics.
* Assist with compliance planning in line with company procedure.
* Direct assistance and support for breakdowns.
* CMS monitoring and complete driver feedback/actions
* Conduct gate checks
Essential Skills required:
* Previous experience of working within the milk collection environment is desirable.
* Leadership skills are essential as you will be managing a busy team.
* Previous customer service experience essential, over the telephone and on email.
* Attention to detail.
* Ability to communicate at all levels.
* Excellent organisational skills and prioritising workload.
* Working to deadlines.
* Able to work as part of a team and on own initiative.
