An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Southampton Eye Unit. The post holder will lead the growing imaging team at Southampton Eye Unit. The successful candidate will be responsible for the effective and efficient maintenance of a comprehensive angiography, imaging and photography service to the Eye Unit. You will manage and support an expanding team of 24 imagers and work closely with Eye Unit management to continuously improve the service. This is a great opportunity to expand and develop your already existing leadership skills.

The imaging department is a very dynamic department within a very busy eye unit environment, so a level of calmness in times pressure would be beneficial.
The eye unit provides a service Monday to Saturday with some evening clinic, so flexibility is an essential requirement. The eye unit runs satellite services around the region where cross-cover and support may be required.
The successful candidate will be providing professional leadership, ensuring visibility and strong role modelling. They will need to be flexible to the ever-changing needs of the service. They would need to carry out audits and implement change that supports service improvement. They would need to deliver and maintain high standards of patient care, promote a positive culture within the team, promote a quality learning environment that positively supports staff development including the retention of staff.
The successful candidate needs to be reliable, compassionate, able to have an objective view on situations that may arise. They will have strong problem-solving skills, can remain calm and able to de-escalate situation when required.
They will bring forward innovative ways to improve the service, working collaboratively with CGMT and other multidisciplinary teams.
