Rural Estates Manager - Shropshire

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and forward-thinking individual to collaborate closely with the owners of a rural estate. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and expanding a portfolio of commercial enterprises, creating a long-term strategy to grow existing operations while introducing innovative income streams to secure the estate's future.
Key Responsibilities
• Foster integrated thinking across all estate operations, supporting the senior leadership team and executive family members in their roles as department heads. Ensure financial, legal, and operational compliance through effective monitoring systems.
• Work alongside each business unit to enhance performance, identifying and pursuing new opportunities in consultation with key partners, while respecting and preserving the estate’s heritage.
• Uphold best practices in statutory and financial management, contributing to the development of a sustainable long-term business plan. Oversee budgeting, appraisals, financial analysis, and reporting across the estate’s various entities. Take an active role in managing major projects and initiatives.
• Cultivate strong, positive relationships with the local community and broader stakeholders, including commercial partners, professional advisors, and local authorities.
• This is a full-time position, though flexibility or part-time options may be available for the right candidate. The role offers benefits such as coverage of professional subscription fees and continued professional development (CPD).
The Ideal Candidate
• Proven experience with financial, commercial, and strategic management, with strong business acumen.
• While prior experience in the rural sector is not essential, a genuine understanding and appreciation for rural life and the current challenges faced by land-based businesses is key.
• Calm, focused, and detail-oriented, with a collaborative, team-oriented mindset and excellent communication skills.
• Strong leadership capabilities and the ability to mentor and guide teams, with a self-aware and diplomatic approach to achieving successful outcomes for stakeholders.
