The Specialist Infrastructure Managers' role is to maintain and assist in the development of the Bupa Dental Care infrastructure to ensure the robust and stable operation of the organisations IT systems and services through a team of specialist Network, Cloud and Automation SME Infrastructure Engineers.
As the Specialist Infrastructure Manager, you will be instrumental in designing, implementing and maintaining robust network and cloud infrastructure, as well as making efficiencies across the business through the implementation of automation technologies and services. This role is vital to ensuring seamless connectivity, scalability, and security across our network and cloud environments. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to support our organisations digital transformation goals and ensure that our network and cloud infrastructure meets the demands of the Dental business.
You will also adhere to IT standards as defined by the IT Leadership Team and ensure governance of both the Infrastructure Team and the developments to IT systems in line with these standards.
Responsibilities
1. Team Leadership and Development
1. Lead, mentor, and develop the Automation, Network and Cloud Infrastructure Teams, fostering a collaborative, innovative and high-performance culture.
2. Set team goals, manage performance, and conduct regular reviews to ensure that targets and SLA's are met.
3. Serve as an escalation point for complex network and cloud issues, providing expert guidance on the troubleshooting and resolution of major incidents and challenges.
2. Infrastructure Design and Implementation
1. Oversee the design, planning, and implementation of new IT solutions to meet evolving business requirements.
2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams and across business units to integrate new solutions into existing systems and ensure interoperability.
3. Drive innovation within the infrastructure team, proposing modern solutions that enhance network performance, cloud scalability, and security, and comply with enterprise standards.
3. Network Infrastructure Management
1. Oversee the design, implementation and maintenance of network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, VPN and firewall configurations.
2. Ensure high availability and redundancy of the network infrastructure to support critical business operations.
3. Regularly assess network performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement best practices to optimise network efficiency.
4. Cloud Infrastructure Management
1. Lead the design, deployment, and support of cloud-based solutions, ensuring they are secure, scalable and cost-effective.
2. Work closely with IT security to implement cloud governance, access management, and compliance with relevant enterprise standards.
3. Develop strategies for cloud optimisation, including resource allocation, cost management and cloud vendor management.
5. Security and Compliance
1. Implement robust security protocols for network and cloud environments, adhering to regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
2. Manage and monitor security controls, such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and identity access management.
3. Conduct regular security and vulnerability assessments, ensuring that both network and cloud environments are protected against evolving threats.
6. Operational Excellence and Support
1. Ensure network and cloud infrastructure support is delivered efficiently, meeting or exceeding SLAs for uptime, performance and issue resolution.
2. Oversee the development and maintenance of comprehensive documentation for network and cloud configurations, processes and incident management.
3. Identify opportunities to streamline processes, automate routine tasks, and improve overall service delivery.
7. Stakeholder Collaboration and Strategic Planning
1. Partner with business and technology stakeholders to understand requirements and align infrastructure projects with company objectives.
2. Support budget, capacity and resource planning activities, ensuring that the infrastructure team has the necessary tools and resources to succeed.
3. Identify opportunities for cost optimisation, process automation, and technology upgrades, supporting business growth and efficiency.
Minimum Requirements
1. Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
2. 5 years' experience in infrastructure management or engineering roles across a multi-site organisation with a proven track record in a leadership position or role of authority.
3. Strong knowledge of networking principles, including routing, switching, VPNs, firewall management, intrusion prevention systems and network monitoring tools.
4. Proficiency with cloud infrastructure services (Azure) and hybrid cloud architectures.
5. Solid understanding of security practices and frameworks, with experience managing secure infrastructure in regulated environments.
6. Proficiency with tools and practices for vulnerability management, including patch management and security frameworks/policies.
7. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills across a diverse range of stakeholders towards both tactical and strategic goals.
8. Ability to manage multiple priorities, work under pressure, and make informed decisions quickly.
9. Strong analytical skills with a problem-solving, process improvement, and strategic planning mindset.
