Overview:
First Military Recruitment are currently seeking a Ground Maintenance Technician on behalf of one of our clients. The purpose of the role is to carry out effective ground works on the ground mounted and floating solar farm, to help maintain production levels and adhere to planning regulations. Our client encourages applications from ex-military personnel; however, all candidates will be given due consideration.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Responsible for the ground maintenance works of solar farms including grass cutting, hedge cutting, spraying, strimming, floating structure maintenance & vegetation removal.
2. To undertake Solar panel cleaning, using a specifically designed tractor mounted rotating brush and pressurised water system, as well as handheld rotating machinery for the floating array.
3. Undertake trenching, digging, fence repairs, and other manual tasks to assist the Field Service Engineers with repairs and alterations to sites.
4. To produce digital photographic reports confirming work has been completed and addressing any issues.
5. Manage priorities based on local ground and weather conditions and in line with good practice.
6. To liaise with various individuals including the Planning Team, the Regional Manager, Landlords, and other Third Parties, ensuring that work is completed in a timely and efficient manner.
7. Work within all health and safety guidelines.
8. Basic maintenance of ground maintenance equipment.
9. Make recommendations as to the tasks required to best manage the solar sites.
10. Being able to stay away overnight, expenses pre-paid, 2-3 nights a week at peak times.
11. Carry out cleaning of the solar array and walkways.
12. Weed management on the Solar array and Land.
13. Checking of connecting pins securing and replacing if required.
14. General housekeeping of the Solar array and its subsequent equipment.
15. Minor planned maintenance.
Skills and Qualifications:
1. Full UK driving licence.
2. Trailer licence.
3. Tractor driving experience.
4. PA1 & PA6.
5. Strimmer and brush cutter experience/certificate.
6. Good IT skills and confidence in Microsoft Office and use of a tablet computer.
7. Experience using heavy duty flails.
8. Previous experience of working in Ground Maintenance, land management, or agricultural is essential.
9. Minimum GSCE’s or similar experience in previous role.
10. Good, professional communicator.
11. Happy working as part of a team as well as being confident working solo.
12. Initiative & organised when forward planning workload.
13. Good time management.
14. Problem-solving & can-do attitude.
15. Be able to navigate smart phones, emails, and apps.
16. Being able to stay away overnight, expenses pre-paid, 2-3 nights a week at peak times.
Desirable:
* Chainsaw Licence.
* Excavator Licence.
* Telehandler.

Salary: £28,700 + Bonus (OTE £5K) + Benefits and company vehicle
