The role:
The main purpose of the role is to manage and to continually strive to improve the health, safety performance of the council services activities and its employees by developing, implementing and promoting the service health, safety policies, strategies, principles of prevention and risk Management.
In supporting the health and safety management system for the Council the role involves acting as a lead role for in corporate and schools health and safety management.
Your specific areas of focus will be on auditing, development and implementation on a wide range of health and safety management systems, development of performance indicators and the evaluation of statistical analysis. You will also be responsible for regulatory compliance, risk management and health and safety training.
Key Skills and Experience:
A NEBOSH Diploma or its equivalent as a minimum qualification and will be registered IOSH member. A good knowledge of current and proposed health & safety legislation and codes of practice and the ability to interpret legislation practically, together with:
Knowledge and experience of:
* Pro-active health and safety management
* Advising on health & safety issues
* Premises safety or facilities management
* Occupational Health and/or Environmental Health issues
* Health and safety training
* Conducting and managing health & safety audit
