Job overview
We are looking to recruit to an Occupational Therapist position within the Havering Early intervention in psychosis team. We are looking for an OT that is motivated and enthusiastic Mental Health Practitioner with an interest in psychosis and the EIP model of working.
Havering EIP is a multi-disciplinary service, providing a range of specialist interventions guided by the NICE guidelines for psychosis interventions, within an integrated person-centred approach to people aged 14-65 resident in the Borough of Havering experiencing or suspected of experiencing a first episode of psychosis. This year we achieved Level 3 status in the national clinical audit for psychosis (NCAP)– proving the team is ‘performing well’ in relation to providing these NICE concordant intervention.
It is important to us that the successful candidate is an experienced professional, possessing a commitment to working within the EIP evidence base. You will need experience as a Care coordinator and following CPA process as well as sound knowledge of OT models, assessments and group work.

Starting with NELFT
NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focusing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.
Probationary Period
This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).
High Cost Area Supplement - London
This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £4, 551 to a maximum of £5,735).

Qualifications
* Qualified /registered Occupational therapist
* Evidence of post-registration Training /qualification and continued CPD
* Family Intervention/Therapy Certificate or equivalent
Experience
* To have proven and significant experience of working with people with complex, acute mental health needs.
* To have experience of assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating aspects of care.
* Clinical risk assessment and management skills
* To have significant experience as a caseworker and CPA Care Co-ordinator
* Experience of using MOHO and OT ADL assessments.
Knowledge
* To demonstrate and knowledge of the NICE guideline for intervention for FEP and the NCAP audit.
* To demonstrate knowledge and competency of the Mental Health Act 1983 related legislation and its applications.
* Excellent working knowledge of care programme approach.
* To have a working knowledge of the requirements of specific OT assessment.
* Knowledge and understanding of Adult Safeguarding policy and procedures.
Skills
* Experience of providing support to people with mental health needs.
* Ability to assess, plan and implement programmes of care with Service User and Carers involvement.
