As one of the UK's largest independent manufacturers supplying to the commercial sector my client manufactures fine chemicals and rubber accelerators and has a history spanning over 150 years. With their headquarters in West Bromwich, they are true pioneers within the chemicals industry.
Due to the retirement of one of their Leadership team, an opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Engineering Manager to join their team in West Bromwich and support within a lower tier COMAH facility. Does this sound like the type of company that can offer you an exciting next step of your career?
Reporting into the Head of Engineering and taking ownership of the leadership of a talented Mechanical Maintenance team, the key responsibilities for your new role as Mechanical Engineering Manager are as follows:
* Overall responsibility for the management of the Mechanical Engineering & Civil Engineering departments, which includes 25 permanent members of staff and additional Contractors, as and when required.
* Mechanical maintenance department management.
* Mechanical project engineering management.
* Maintaining and promoting a safe operating culture within the department, ensuring that all aspects of installation and maintenance operate to the highest levels of safety and meets all legal and statutory requirements, company rules and procedures.
* Liaison at all levels inside the company.
* Liaison with outside contacts - typically including suppliers, Contractors and agencies such as the HSE and insurance inspectors.
My client is keen to hear from people who possess a Mechanical Engineering HNC / HND, as a minimum, but ideally a Mechanical Engineering degree. In an ideal world, you will have a minimum of 10 years' experience in a mechanical engineering role withing a fast-moving manufacturing environment, with at least five years in a supervisory / management role.
Regardless of previous expertise, you will have a flexible attitude and the ability to deal with multiple complex jobs simultaneously.

The working hours for the role are Monday-Friday 8am to 4.30pm and opportunities for further progression are readily available for those who want it.
