Job Title: Surgical First Assistant (SFA)
Pay: £40 - £45 per hour
Job Type: Full-time / Part-time / Contract
We are seeking an experienced Surgical First Assistant (SFA) to join our dynamic surgical team. As an integral member of the operating room, you will provide hands-on support to surgeons during a wide range of procedures, ensuring the highest standards of patient care and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assisting the surgeon during operations by providing direct, skilled surgical support
* Preparing and positioning patients for surgery, ensuring comfort and safety
* Maintaining a sterile field and ensuring the availability of all necessary surgical instruments
* Assisting with haemostasis, tissue retraction, suturing, and wound closure
* Collaborating with the surgical team to anticipate the needs of the surgeon and ensure smooth procedures
* Monitoring the patient’s condition throughout surgery and assisting with any necessary interventions
* Ensuring adherence to infection control and safety protocols within the operating theatre
Requirements:
* Qualified Surgical First Assistant with relevant certification
* Extensive experience working in a surgical environment, particularly in the role of a first assistant
* Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, anatomy, and medical terminology
* Excellent manual dexterity, attention to detail, and ability to remain calm under pressure
* Effective communication and teamwork skills
* Commitment to patient safety and high-quality care
