Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Infection Prevention and Control team. We are looking to recruit an Infection Prevention and Control Nurse who will be responsible for delivery and implementation of IPC quality assurance processes for healthcare providers across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.
Main duties of the job
You will have working knowledge of Infection Prevention and Control guidance, with proven experience of delivering and maintaining excellent IPC practices. The postholder will be required to have excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels of the ICB and across external stakeholders including NHS and independent service providers, Local Authorities, NHS England and UKHSA. You will be well organised, with the ability to work from home, attend offices at County Hall and visit provider sites across LLR, as required.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The Infection Prevention and Control Clinician will:
1. Support the IPC Nurse Manager, Heads of Quality and the Chief Nurse in delivering the Infection Prevention and Control Agenda for the LLR ICB, in line with the latest Health and Social Care Act: Code of Practice on the prevention and control of infections and related guidance.
2. Be responsible for assisting in ensuring that the ICB has effective quality assurance processes for IPC standards across a range of healthcare providers.
3. Be responsible for providing specialist infection prevention and control advice to colleagues both internal and external to the ICB and to support the ongoing reduction of healthcare and community associated infections.
4. Assist with the communication of current national, regional and local IPC guidance and liaise with appropriate organisations and agencies to ensure IPC standards are properly managed.
5. The postholder will also assist with providing operational support to Primary Care, providing IPC advice and guidance to direct enquiries, and undertaking site-visits where appropriate.
Person specification
Education and Training
* Professional nursing qualification and current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) or professional qualification and current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
* Evidence of continued professional development in infection prevention and control.
Knowledge and Experience
* Demonstrated experience in a Healthcare environment relating to infection prevention and control.
* Experience of setting up and implementing internal processes and procedures.
* Experience of drafting briefing papers and correspondence at senior management team level.
* Good understanding of current and anticipated developments that will affect the health sector and the national strategy for infection prevention and control.
Skills and Abilities
* Able to work on own initiative and as part of a multi-disciplinary team in a fast-paced and pressurised environment.
* Ability to analyze very complex issues where material is conflicting and drawn from multiple sources.
* Strong organizational skills and ability to carry out workflow planning and resourcing.
* Ability to maintain confidentiality and trust.
