DSV is recruiting for Warehouse Operator in Frome. The Warehouse Operative’s role is to facilitate and ensure that all inbound and outbound shipments are safely and accurately unloaded, received, checked, wrapped, and put away, and execute all other tasks relating to warehouse operation in accordance with operational and health and safety procedures.
The successful candidate must be able to follow standard operational procedures and work in a methodical and tidy manner, possessing a comprehensive understanding of material/stock management techniques and inventory control methods and procedures.
These roles are working on day shifts on a 4 on, 4 off basis, starting at 7am until 7pm.
Reporting to the Supervisor or Team Leader, the warehouse operative has overall accountability for daily warehousing operations, which includes receiving, put away, inventory, picking, packing, and delivery of stock items, operating Manual Handling Equipment as required, and minimizing any losses and damages during these processes.
Complete all tasks with a high degree of accuracy to ensure and maintain organizational standards.
Ensure compliance with safety, quality, health, and environmental procedures.
Maintain a safe working environment within the Warehouse and report any incidents or accidents immediately to the relevant manager.
Key Tasks
1. Load and unload vehicles.
2. Ensure the quality of housekeeping is always maintained, operating in a tidy manner.
3. Receive and dispatch shipments using the warehouse management system.
4. Build and breakdown ULDs.
5. Ensure quality and accuracy whilst performing any operation.
6. Maintain stock integrity by ensuring correct stock and system moves.
Duties / Responsibilities
1. Perform all other duties as reasonably required that are consistent with both training and experience.
2. Health and safety – to be fully compliant with all health and safety requirements including warehouse procedures, PPE, and housekeeping.
Skills and Competencies
1. 2 x GCSEs – Desirable but not essential
2. Previous Warehouse experience – Desirable but not essential
3. Ability to challenge health and safety failures
4. Ability to use own initiative/proactive in suggesting improvements in procedures
5. Understanding of basic health and safety principles
6. Good understanding of English language – Written and verbal
7. Ability to plan and manage own time well
8. Use of transport
