Mental Health Youth Worker - Oxford
Are you looking to make a difference in the lives of children and young people? Do you have a passion for mental health?
Then this might be the role for you!
The Role:
The successful Mental Health Youth Worker will assist and support students who struggle with their emotions and social behavior. These students come from backgrounds where they have been exposed to adverse childhood experiences and have trauma, anxiety, and depression. They especially struggle with regulating and processing their emotions and managing their behavior, creating challenges for them in school.
The School:
This school looks after students between the ages of 3 and 11, with identified social, emotional, and mental health needs. They are an outstanding institution that prioritizes the education and mental well-being of their students. They offer engaging classes and maintain an amazing supportive environment.
Day to Day:
The successful Mental Health Youth Worker will help students with their daily tasks. You will be supported by the class teacher and will also assist with general class duties, including setting up for lessons, clearing up afterward, and managing classroom behavior. This will be done on either a 1:1 basis or in a small group setting, and you will be making a significant difference in these children's lives.
The Candidate:
The ideal candidate will be proactive and patient. You should be adaptable and thrive in fast-paced environments. Determination, confidence, and a passion for education and helping vulnerable children are essential.
Previous experience working with children who present challenging behavior is ideal. However, attitude and personality are equally important, as you will serve as a role model for these children.
Aspiring psychologists, therapists, and counselors will greatly benefit from a role like this, as it will enhance their skillset. Graduates are also encouraged to apply, as well as those with backgrounds in sports, art, or drama.
