As Saltrock’s In-House Photographer, you will be a driving force behind our brand’s visual identity, creating captivating images that authentically reflect our adventurous spirit. With a natural storytelling ability, you’ll bring the Saltrock brand to life through powerful visuals that capture the extraordinary in everyday moments. Your creative eye, coupled with a strong attention to detail, will enable you to set up each shot with precision and artistry, producing imagery that speaks to our mission and resonates with our customers.
Success in this role requires both patience and meticulous attention to detail, as well as the ability to juggle multiple projects efficiently, ensuring every piece of work meets our high standards. You’ll be responsible for capturing high-quality, commercially appealing lifestyle imagery—whether model-based or flat-lay—in both studio and outdoor settings, to be used across our Ecommerce and Brand Marketing channels. Your work will fuel our website, social media, press releases, email campaigns, brochures, stores, and lookbooks.
In addition, you’ll work closely with our Senior Graphic Designer, Stylist, and Marketing Manager, collaborating to produce impactful content that stays true to Saltrock’s brand. Confidence in building positive relationships, both within and beyond the creative team, will be essential as you help shape Saltrock’s visual story across all channels.
Main Duties/Responsibilities
· Creative Production: Capture high-quality, commercial lifestyle images (model-based and flat-lay) in both studio and on-location settings, to be used across social media, website, press, email campaigns, brochures, stores, and lookbooks.
· Commercial Photography Portfolio: A strong portfolio that highlights expertise in ecommerce photography, with applied techniques in digital photography, lighting, composition, and colour accuracy.
· Ecommerce Studio Proficiency: Extensive experience in high-volume ecommerce photography, with a proven ability to produce high-quality images that drive online sales.
· Consistency and Quality Control: Ensure all photographic outputs are consistent, accurately represent the product, and adhere to brand standards, showcasing a strong attention to detail.
· Brand Guidelines Development: Help maintain and evolve Saltrock’s seasonal photography brand guidelines.
· Shoot Management: Organise and oversee all logistics for photography assignments, including travel, accommodations, permits, model bookings, budget management, invoices, and contracts.
· On-Site Photography: Undertake studio and location shoots, contributing creatively to each project as required.
· Model Direction and Styling: Engage and direct models on set to bring the brand’s vision to life.
· Image Retouching: Edit and retouch images, preparing them for online and print use.
· Asset Management: Organise and maintain a well-structured digital asset library, ensuring easy access and file management.
· Studio Maintenance: Set up, manage, and maintain the photo studio, including lighting equipment, props, and general organisation.
· Event Coverage: Capture key events such as store openings, press events, and other PR-related activities.
· Collaborative Campaign Work: Partner with the Graphic Design, Web, and Marketing teams to understand campaign objectives and ensure photography aligns with overarching creative concepts.
· Cross-Functional Coordination: Work closely with Ecom and Brand teams, understanding each project’s goals and contributing to the overall vision.
· Safety and Best Practices: Maintain safety standards and best practices for both studio and location shoots.
· Creative Vision: Leverage a keen creative eye to produce unique, visually engaging photos, continuously seeking new inspiration and testing new concepts to advance Saltrock’s visual content.
· Equipment Management: Ensure proper maintenance of all photography equipment, communicating any needs or issues to the Creative Project Manager.
· Freelance Collaboration: Ability to coordinate and collaborate effectively with freelance photographers and videographers, building a network of talent for ad hoc projects and expanding creative capabilities.

· Relevant Experience: Proven track record in a similar role within a creative, commercial setting, ideally in a related industry.
· Senior-Level Expertise: Skilled senior photographer with experience directing both studio and on-location shoots, capturing diverse subjects including on-model and still life.
· Technical Proficiency: Expert knowledge in both studio and location photography, with a comprehensive understanding of digital workflow from shooting to editing and web preparation.
· Studio Photography Skills: Proficient in studio photography, including documenting processes for various standard photography types such as flat-lay, on-model, tabletop, and creative.
· Lighting and Composition Mastery: Strong understanding of lighting, composition, and background requirements, particularly for seasonal campaigns.
· Forward Planning: Able to anticipate project needs and plan efficiently to keep up with the dynamic pace of the business.

Required Skills:
· Commercial Portfolio: A robust portfolio showcasing expertise in commercial photography, including applied techniques in digital photography, lighting, composition, and color quality.
· Ecommerce Studio Experience: Proven experience in high-volume ecommerce studio environments.
· Platform Proficiency: Skilled in both PC and Mac operating systems.
· Software Mastery: Advanced knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and Capture One Pro for image editing and management.
· Adaptability and Reliability: Ability to adapt quickly to changing conditions, maintaining reliability under pressure.
