Lead Controls Engineer

Role Profile:
As a Lead Engineer, you will be required to motivate and supervise the project engineering team, taking full responsibility for successful technical delivery of a complete project solution to the agreed scope in accordance with company procedures whilst meeting budgetary and time-scale targets.
You must be a committed and enthusiastic team member, who is pro-active and able to allocate tasks among team members, supervise, assist and monitor task progress to advise the project manager on progress, risks and issues. You should work co-operatively with the Engineering team to ensure smooth project progress in accordance with the agreed project lifecycle.
Key Activities:
1. Overall technical and engineering team leadership
2. Working closely with and supporting the Project Manager in all aspects of project technical delivery and scope management
3. Lead the technical and quality requirements on projects
4. Ensure project adherence to company quality processes and procedures
5. Detailed task and procurement list development and leadership
6. Allocate tasks to the engineering team and monitor progress
7. Identification of project opportunities and variations
8. Support the Project Manager in identifying and managing risks and issues
9. Support the Project Manager in the project delivery strategy development and planning
10. Identification and enabling of reusable modules by standardisation and modularization of systems where appropriate
11. Prototyping of new technologies
12. Working closely with customers and stakeholders through project delivery
13. Training planning and support
14. Mentoring of Engineers
15. Sales support
16. Support the Automation sales team and support department business development
17. Provide Health and Safety leadership by example
Key Functions:
1. Central involvement in sales to projects hand-over process
2. Central involvement in 1st Engineering review
3. Assist PM in development of QA plan
4. Assist PM in development of project Gantt chart
5. Assist PM in development of initial task & procurement list
6. Ongoing development & updating of detailed task & procurement lists
7. Peer review documents created by the project team or other teams
8. Attend contract meetings with the project manager
9. Act as the main contact/client interface for the project and deputise for the PM where required
10. Undertake or manage site surveys as required
11. Lead outline design, upfront design studies and requirement definition for clients
12. Develop FDS - with the project team as necessary
13. Develop DDS - with the project team as necessary
14. Develop Test Specification & design testing methodology with the team
15. Develop or manage development of project modules (Modules as identified in the design - PLC code modules, SCADA scripts, Mimics, comms drivers, etc.)
16. Undertake & record ongoing Engineering Reviews throughout the project
17. Develop site work documentation with team input as necessary (Risk assessment, method statement, site test documentation)
18. Develop O & M documentation - with input from project team as necessary
19. Lead or manage full integrated system testing, CFAT, SAT and installation
20. Undertake or manage observations, variation and reworks
21. Undertake or manage packing and shipping of the system
22. Undertake or manage site installation
23. Undertake or manage site retesting
24. Provide warranty support as necessary
