Northumberland County Council's Home Improvement Service supports residents of Northumberland with minor and major adaptations to their homes to maximise their independence and safety. The Home Improvement Service consists of technicians, coordinators, caseworkers, surveyors, and administrators who consistently achieve the required standards set for the service.
The Home Improvement Service has developed a new role of Caseworker-Coordinator to work as part of the Major Adaptation team. The post holder will have responsibility for supporting those referred into the service to access Disabled Facilities Grant funding for major adaptations in their homes. The post holder will also have responsibility for all aspects of the grant process, approvals, and payments.
We want someone who is enthusiastic about helping people and has a strong track record of delivering excellent customer service, who can prioritise their workload to get the best outcomes. Experience of working with a range of partners is a must, and a background of working in housing, benefits, health, or social care assessment environments would be a distinct advantage.
The role requires a high level of communication skills as there is a need to work closely with the team as well as a large range of partners to achieve successful outcomes for the clients.
The post holder will work across the county visiting clients in their own homes as well as agile working from home, any NCC site, or the team office base, which is Eddie Ferguson House, Blyth.
The post is permanent full-time, NCC Band 5 with a starting salary of £27,711 to £30,060.
Requirements of the role:
* Due to the nature of this role, it is an essential requirement that the post holder has a valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle they can use for work purposes.
* Good standard of general education and high level of communication skills.
* Knowledge of the welfare benefits system.
* Experience of working with disabled adults and children.
