An exciting opportunity has arisen within Northumbria Critical Care. Northumbria Critical Care is a 15 bedded Critical Care unit within a Specialist Emergency Care Hospital.
Critical care is a busy, progressive unit with a clear patient-centred focus. We have made a strong commitment to quality. The team has a strong emphasis on developing health care practice through ownership, research/evidence-based practices, commitment, and multidisciplinary involvement, experience of which would be desirable.
Main duties of the job
1. To co-ordinate and organise all staff within the department to provide quality nursing care and management for the critical care unit.
2. To share skills/knowledge with colleagues and learners.
3. To contribute towards development within the critical care unit.
4. Internal rotation day and night.
Job responsibilities
1. To provide and facilitate quality nursing care to the critically ill patient.
2. Rostered to take charge regularly of the department and deputise for the team leader.
3. To facilitate the process of education and development of nursing and non-nursing staff within the team.
4. Provide specialist advice for multidisciplinary staff working within the unit and as an Outreach resource.
5. To contribute to the overall development of clinical practice within critical care.
6. To support Modern Matron and Senior Sisters in the effective management of resources and personnel issues over a 24 hr period.
7. To role model compassionate and inclusive leadership in order to shape the creation of a collective leadership culture within the trust.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* A registered nurse on part 1 of the professional register, with current NMC registration.
* Teaching and Assessing qualification.
* Advanced/Intermediate Life Support Certificate.
* Registered mentor.
* Diploma/Degree in Nursing.
Experience
* Significant post-registration experience in critical care.
