Position Overview:
We are seeking a knowledgeable and organized Parts Department Manager to assess the operations of our parts department. The successful candidate will manage inventory and ensure that our parts department runs smoothly and efficiently. This role requires a strong understanding of inventory management, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to lead and develop a team.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Manage the day-to-day operations of the parts department, ensuring all activities are carried out efficiently and accurately.
2. Oversee the ordering, receiving, stocking, and distribution of parts and supplies, ensuring optimal inventory levels are maintained.
3. Develop and implement inventory control procedures to minimize shrinkage and ensure accuracy in stock levels.
4. Provide excellent customer service by assisting clients with their needs, offering advice, and resolving any issues or concerns promptly.
5. Work closely with other departments to ensure timely availability of parts for service jobs and customer orders.
6. Negotiate with suppliers to obtain the best pricing, terms, and delivery schedules.
7. Monitor and analyze sales and inventory reports, adjusting purchasing and inventory strategies as needed.
8. Ensure that the parts department meets or exceeds financial goals, including sales targets and profit margins.
9. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in the parts department.
10. Stay updated on industry trends, new products, and technologies to provide informed recommendations to customers and staff.
11. Utilize software systems for inventory management, sales tracking, and reporting.
Qualifications:
1. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in parts management, preferably in the marine industry.
2. Strong understanding of inventory management principles and practices.
3. Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop staff.
4. Superior customer service skills, with a focus on building strong relationships with clients and suppliers.
5. Proficient in using inventory management and point-of-sale software systems.
6. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
7. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
8. Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions to improve department performance.
9. Knowledge of marine products, parts, and suppliers is preferred.
10. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
11. The ability to lift 50lbs and climb stairs.
