Job summary We have a 0.8wte Principal Practitioner Psychologist vacancy across our men's secure services. Reaside and Tamarind are medium-secure units working with men who are experiencing severe mental health problems that have often also had a component or history of violence. We work alongside a number of professionals, providing safe, containing environments and interventions to help people understand themselves, their mental health and offending behaviour. The psychology team consists of a range of experienced Practitioner Psychologists, Art Therapist, Specialist Psychological Practitioner and Assistant Psychologists. We have close links with local training providers and take on Trainee Psychologists and occasional creative therapists. This role will include working across both sites inputting into a clinical team to ensure good psychological treatment is formulation driven and aligned with Divisional and Trust objectives and values. A large focus of the role will also include developing a clear strategy and implementation plan for staff wellbeing within men's services as part of our broader Divisional approach to trauma-informed care. Main duties of the job Your role will be to liaise with stakeholders, develop and implement a strategy alongside colleagues that is responsive to the professional and interpersonal challenges of working within forensic services with people who have a complex history. You will be supported across both sites in this work with a team of psychologists who are keen to ensure that the experience of working in secure care and offender health is rewarding as much as it is challenging. There will be opportunities to work across your professional training; considering research, service development, training and evaluation. We are undertaking a number of research and service development projects in a range of contexts. You will be encouraged to continue to add to the evidence base and also consider what innovative practice you can develop, and be supported to write your papers for publication if this is within your interest. Alternatively, we will work with you to find your 'shiny thing' to ensure you develop as you wish in line with service needs.
