Environmental Technician Job Summary: Seeking an Environmental Controller to manage, monitor, and maintain an Effluent Waste Treatment Plant and oversee waste and recycling processes for a large manufacturing site. This role ensures compliance with statutory requirements, health and safety regulations, and environmental standards. Key Responsibilities: Effluent Plant Management: Operate and maintain the site’s Effluent Waste Treatment Plant, ensuring wastewater is treated efficiently. Waste Management: Oversee the Waste and Recycling Centre, ensuring safe and effective disposal/recycling of hazardous and non-hazardous waste. Preventative Maintenance: Perform scheduled maintenance tasks, identify risks, and communicate issues to the Plant Engineering Manager. Compliance: Adhere to HSE, EA governance, and statutory requirements, ensuring safe working practices and legal compliance. On-Call Support: Provide out-of-hours support for plant breakdowns and incidents like chemical spills. Continuous Improvement: Implement best practices and new technologies to optimize waste management and recycling processes. Qualifications & Skills: NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering. 5 years of facilities maintenance experience, preferably in manufacturing. Familiarity with Effluent Waste Treatment Plants, chemical handling, or mechanical systems. Experience managing waste and recycling streams; knowledge of external waste partners is a plus. Knowledge of preventative maintenance, risk assessments, and COSHH procedures. Forklift operation (preferred, training provided if needed). Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word). Willingness to work Saturdays, out-of-hours, and undertake medical and safety-critical training. Additional Requirements: Medically fit to pass Safety Critical Medical, confined space, and breathing apparatus training.
