We have an exciting opportunity for an ambitious, dynamic and inclusive Senior Pharmacy Professional to lead our Pharmacy and Medicines Optimisation service.
You will join us in an innovative role as Deputy Chief Pharmacist 8D, progressing to Chief Pharmacist at the end of a 12 month period. During this time you will participate in a comprehensive experiential development programme with mentoring from our Interim Chief Pharmacist plus external Coaching.
Your ability and experience of driving and successfully achieving change and innovation to create opportunities, improvements and service transformation will enable you to provide the leadership and strategic direction required to continue to bring together our Pharmacy team in the delivery of a patient-focused, cost-effective and high-quality service. You will provide clinical and professional leadership to a team of over 300 pharmacy staff, ensuring a progressive and responsive service to internal and external demand.
Once appointed to Chief Pharmacist, you will work to the requirements of this post which includes:
1. Accountability for the professional leadership of our clinical pharmacy services and lead on planning and delivering of the medicines optimisation strategy for the Trust.
2. Lead a team of highly skilled pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and other pharmacy staff working to deliver clinical pharmacy services to patients.
3. Act as lead on Medicines Optimisation implementing the strategy and work plan and other medicines optimisation projects.
4. Provide expert interpretation to the Board and senior managers on all Medicines Optimisation issues to ensure compliance with all legislative, governance and operational aspects of Medicines Optimisation.
5. Work with partnership organisations on the development of joint Medicines Optimisation strategies in the local health economy.
6. Manage the Pharmacy budget and resources and create opportunities for income generation.
7. Represent the Trust on external medicines related groups or committees.
8. Act as the Controlled Drug Accountable Officer for the Trust and report to the Trust Executive and Local Intelligence Network on issues related to controlled drug management.
9. Be the responsible officer for the Wholesale Dealers Authorisation.
10. Lead the implementation of the new EPR and standardisation of pathways.
11. Lead on potential opportunities for consolidation of services across sites.
