The Role
It is an exciting time to join Tameside council as we begin our plans to reform and redesign Adult Social Care and implement The White Paper ‘People at the Heart of Care’.
The Assistant Team Manager (ATM ) of the Mental Health local authority team will be integral to the service transformation in assisting the Team manager in working together in the Mental Health Team and supporting the needs of young people coming through transition and adults with a mental disorder.
We are looking for a dynamic and highly motivated ATM to support the Team manager as we grow and develop our specialist Mental Health team.
The team will provide assessment and care management to adults with Mental illness and young adults coming through transition.
The role will support the Team manager to implement an assessment and care management team with specialist skills and knowledge of Mental Health and transition
This will include:
* To support the Team manager in the recruitment of key posts within the team and developing a specialist service for some of our most complex adults to ensure we are compliant in our duties under the Care Act, The Mental Health Act, the Autism Act and the SEND agenda, ensuring that there are in place processes/guidance and procedures to ensure the efficient and effective running of the service.
* To support the team manager to provide effective managerial leadership of the team ensuring a clear direction for the service in accordance with statutory framework, policies and procedures.
* To support the team manager to build and develop the strengths and skills of employees within the service, creating a confident learning and development environment for staff and managers to progress their careers in Tameside.
* Ability to lead, motivate and develop staff within the service, and ensure they maintain a culture of change that is team based, performance driven and maintains the motivation of staff.
* To support the team manager to ensure the service area are accountable for their practice and are implementing the principles of the Care Act, The Mental Health Act, Autism Act and SEND agenda via a person centred approach meeting statutory requirements
* To support the team manager to provide oversight and leadership of all safeguarding responsibilities within the service area and provide a learning culture with regards to practice improvement ensuring quality standards are achieved
* To provide excellent communication and develop an engagement plan with the people that use the service and their carers
* To support the team manager to lead a specialist team in collaboration with Health Colleagues across the system, building strong positive working relationships ensuring a streamlined efficient response in managing the team leading to positive outcomes for people.
* To support the team manager in implementing the KLOE to be compliant with CQC standards
* To ensure an efficient duty system is operated to deal with emergencies
You will work in collaboration with internal, external partners and voluntary organisations to build up positive working relationships across the whole system in achieving the best possible outcomes for the people we support.
About You
* You will be qualified with a level 6 social work degree or equivalent
* You will be passionate about supporting people to live well at home
* You will have experience of direct work with Adults with a Mental illness, and a good knowledge of transitions and the SEND agenda and experience of working in a care management environment.
* You will have experience in Adult Social Care
* You will have some experience of leading service areas through change/redesign and have excellent communication skills
* You will have the ability to develop strategic vision and the ability to forward plan, setting targets and service planning.
