Job Summary
We are looking to appoint an StR Lower Doctor in Neurology and Stroke at University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust to undertake a 1-year fixed term position, with the possibility to extend. This post holder will work within the Neurology and Stroke Medicine team to provide comprehensive inpatient management for our wards. The post will be ideally suited to a doctor with an interest in Neurology and Stroke.
Main duties of the job
The Neurology and Stroke team are looking for an individual to join the team and work closely with the clinical team across Merrivale and Hartor wards with consultant ward rounds conducted daily. The post holder will be responsible for the day-to-day care of inpatients under the care of your supervising consultants. You will be expected to provide support to the based consultants on the wards, managing inpatients, completing TTA's, and daily ward jobs.

The successful applicant will work as part of an enthusiastic team and the position provides good exposure to acute and general neurology and stroke medicine. The Neurology department takes acute admissions 365 days of the year. Most acute neurological problems, including all acute stroke patients, are admitted directly under the care of the Neurologists. The successful candidate will also work on the out of hours rota, to include weekends and nights.

Qualifications Essential
* MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
Eligibility Essential
* At least 12 months working experience after full GMC registration with a license to practise.
* Previous working experience in neurology or stroke medicine.
* Eligibility to work in the UK.
* Not previously relinquished, released, or removed from a Core medical training programme or from an ACCS training programme except under exceptional circumstances.
Language skills Essential
* All applicants to have demonstrable skills in written and spoken English adequate to enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues, demonstrated by one of the following:
* Applicants have undertaken undergraduate medical training in English; or have achieved the following scores in the academic International English Language Testing System (IELTS) in a single sitting within 24 months at time of application - Overall 7, Speaking 7, Listening 7, Reading 7, Writing 7.
Clinical skills Essential
* Previous working experience in neurology or stroke medicine.
* MRCP Part 1 or full MRCP.
