The role
We are currently recruiting for a Senior Estimator / Cost Planner to be based out of our Manchester regional office and working on bids ranging from £60m to £350m.
What will you do?
* The Senior Estimator / Cost Planner shall be responsible for Estimating and Cost Planning, working closely and directly with the Cost Planning & Estimating Director, and other members of the Cost Planning team, as well as interfacing with external clients, other disciplines, and teams from project inception, accountable and responsible for all estimating / cost planning aspects of the projects.
* Primarily involved with Estimating for external bids from inception at feasibility stage inputting into and/or developing conversion strategies, to presentation to the Leadership Team or the appropriate Limits of Authority at Commitment Review, including reviews and sign off in compliance for approval on the internal Lendlease systems.
* The Senior Estimator / Cost Planner will be required to lead on a bid, or work as part of a wider commercial team, depending on the bid stage, scale and complexity. The Senior Estimator / Cost Planner is responsible for coordinating all aspects of the bid including prelims book, cost plan, cost plan commentary, fees and value engineering in coordination with the Lendlease bid / project team.
* You will work closely with the Cost Planning & Estimating Director in developing cost planning and delivery strategies and ensuring these are appropriately resourced and managed to successful outcomes, as well as mentoring and supporting other members within the Estimating / Cost Planning team, supporting them with their projects, goals and personal objectives.
* As the Senior Estimator / Cost Planner, you will be required to challenge the design teams to design efficient buildings within the cost plan parameters. Continual analysis of the design metrics against the cost plan and best practice benchmark examples.
* Support the development of best practices / standards, knowledge base, sector expertise including industry trends, yardsticks, or benchmarks etc. Ensure knowledge sharing and skills transfer to train, develop, and upskill the wider cost planning team.
You will bring
* Experience in an Estimating / Cost Planning role and in undertaking complex and high volume business processes, and/or expert knowledge of the construction and property development industry, and surveying principles, processes, analysis and techniques and the formulation and implementation of surveying plans.
* Problem solving, technical and analytical skills to support the implementation of organisational policies, procedures and programs and surveying operations.
* Written and verbal communication skills to facilitate decision making and build relationships with key stakeholders.
* Ideally experience working within a construction main contracting environment.
