The Medicine's Administrator will assist patients in obtaining their medication in a timely and safe manner, directing patients to the appropriate services when required. The post-holder will Manage requests for repeat prescriptions from patients, pharmacies, Medicines Order-line (MOLs) and care homes. They will Produce repeat prescriptions using GP practice software and assist in drug monitoring in line with agreed protocols, including shared care drug monitoring. The medicine's Administrator must have an understanding of the Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) and be confident in its explanation to patients. They should be able to respond efficiently to a demanding pressure from telephone calls whilst maintaining accuracy and ability to follow up all queries in a timely manner. They must manage and complete the appropriate tasks and ensure that GPs and other prescribing clinicians have access to electronic or paper prescriptions for signing within an appropriate timescale. An additional responsibility will be to ensure that patients are not over ordering prescription items, are only ordering items that they require at that time and informing of any items that they are no longer taking to ensure that patient safety is paramount. The Medicine's Administrator will develop good working relationships with Patients, GPs, nurses and other surgery staff, in addition to external organisations, such as Community Pharmacy. They must managepatient files and related admin to the required quality standards and in line with information governance, GDPR and DPA regulations.
