Governor
Hours: The time commitment is 1.5 days per month approximately.
We would be delighted to receive applications for the role of Governor.
We currently have a vacancy for an individual able to provide vision and strategic leadership to the College as a member of its Board of Governors.
Specifically, we are looking for a senior HR professional with strategic leadership experience, such as an HR Director, Head of HR or senior HR leader, who brings expertise in workforce development, organisational culture and people strategy in the Castleford, Wakefield or Selby districts to contribute their skills and experience to our College to help us achieve our vision: “To be an outstanding, first-choice education group, passionately serving all of our communities.”
While we are looking for a person with experience in Human Resources at a managerial level to fill our current vacancy, we would also welcome applications from anyone who thinks they could make a positive contribution to our Board which we will retain should a suitable future vacancy arise.
Being a Governor is a voluntary role, unpaid but highly rewarding, and this is a particularly exciting time to be involved with the College. We have a challenging agenda including:
1. Further improving the quality of teaching and learning at the College, with the aim of giving our students better outcomes, be that in continuing their education at the College or at university, or in gaining employment.
2. Understanding the needs of employers, to help local businesses grow and contribute to economic prosperity in our districts.
3. Forming strategic partnerships within our districts to help shape key initiatives.
4. Forming strong relationships with our districts’ schools and, where appropriate, work with them in the provision of education.
5. Developing sustainability within the College and our communities.
If you have the ability and commitment to contribute towards these goals, we would love to hear from you.
A detailed job description, providing further information about the vacancy and the required attributes of candidates, accompanies this document.
The deadline for applications is 30th April 2025. Interviews will be held shortly after.
Should you wish to discuss this further, please do not hesitate to contact us via Sam Cremore, our Head of Governance and Legal Services, on 01924 789208 or at SCremore@HeartofYorkshire.ac.uk.
Thank you for your interest.
