The Principal Project Manager (Foundations) is a critical role within the Offshore Business focussing on the delivery of large-scale offshore wind projects in the UK and overseas, working with Multinational Joint Venture Partner(s) and Contractors ensuring that SPR’s/Iberdrola position is suitably protected at any agreements.
Belonging to the Wind Farm area of Offshore Project Services and reporting to the Foundations Department Manager, the Principal Project Manager will be responsible for defining delivery strategies and plans, tendering, negotiating and managing multi-million offshore delivery contracts, planning and implementing delivery sites and logistics, leading delivery phase including management of multiple offshore contractors and associated interfaces, defining company and business standards and acceptance criteria, and ensuring quality, best practices and excellent H&SE performance are applied.
The individual will be working as part of a global business with activities in many countries across Europe and the rest of the world. The position may require frequent travel to various locations in the UK and overseas and during development, contracting and delivery of projects the individual should be prepared to manage teams working at different project locations.
What you’ll be doing
* Lead delivery of complex multi-million pound, multi-disciplinary, multi-contract projects across a number of countries throughout Europe and the US to ensure delivery of business strategic investment plan within time, to budget and quality following the highest industry practice and observing the maximum respect for Health, Safety and Environment to ensure regulatory and legal compliance.
* Manage significant number of contract and supplier interfaces to ensure project delivery while minimising costs and risks.
* Manage projects to offshore standards by implementing procedures, tools, best practices and quality requirements for large scale offshore windfarm projects to ensure that the delivery of projects is appropriate and consistent with SPR strategy and delivered according to specification, budget and timetable without compromising safety.
* Manage the team responsible for leading execution phase (onshore and offshore) of multiple project packages of multi-functional teams to ensure timely delivery within budget.
* Provide expert advice on appropriate bid levels/ programme strategies/ commercial strategies/ commercial agreements relative to projects to maximise value.
* Coordinate with the HSE team to develop HSE strategy for offshore windfarm delivery and ensure a high standard of health and safety awareness is maintained.
* Ensure all lessons learnt regarding offshore delivery are captured and shared across the different offshore projects. Establish the right mechanisms for this process and ensuring the teams and project implement them to capture and enhance business value.
What you’ll bring
* Degree and professional qualification in Civil/Structural/Geotechnical engineering.
* Substantial postgraduate experience in industry with significant experience in Offshore Wind.
* IT literate with the ability to operate MS Office systems and other IT based project management software.
* Flexible to travel regularly to attend meetings and work at different project sites in a number of countries thought northern Europe and USA.
* Relevant experience in offshore delivery planning and set up.
* Deep knowledge of health, safety and environmental legislation associated with offshore/marine delivery projects.
* Deep knowledge of offshore procedures, standards and guides.
* Experience in managing high skilled teams.
