Overview: As a rapidly expanding compliance consultancy, we are seeking multiple qualified fire safety consultants/ inspectors to join the Fire Safety team either on a contract or permanent capacity. The person will need to adopt a proportionate and common-sense approach to fire safety advice. The successful applicant will be supported by an experienced fire risk management team, delivering inspections and consultancy on various fire safety issues, primarily (but not exclusively) within the social housing and education sectors. This work stream involves the provision of fire safety information for the in-house fire safety teams of our clients and may include: Carrying out site audits on a variety of fire safety subjects and producing technical reports, including fire risk assessments, quality audits of FRAs, post-inspections of contractor works, pre-inspections (providing remedial action recommendations as part of our inspection regime for our clients). Providing fire safety advice to clients, both written and oral. Occasionally representing our company at meetings. Ensuring clients are compliant with current legislation using the relevant guidance and standards applicable. Surveying fire doors and fire stopping and providing competent commentary on both. Location: We are looking for people to carry out fire inspection work in the following areas: Nottinghamshire Leicestershire Midlands Worcestershire Gloucestershire Oxfordshire Wiltshire Hampshire Sussex Dorset These would not all be covered by one individual, but rather we are seeking for people to be located such that several areas from the above list are easily accessible to them. Employment type: We will consider permanent employment on a full or part-time basis. Alternatively, this work may suit someone working as a contractor on a self-employed basis. The person will: Be qualified with NEBOSH General and Fire Safety & Risk Management Certificate or have at least a Level 3 fire risk assessment qualification recognised by the IFE (Institution of Fire Engineers) or IFSM (Institute of Fire Safety Managers) and have an ambition to add to this qualification. Have good records of CPD and willing to self-enhance their knowledge of fire safety. Have a good knowledge of UK legislation and guidance, including housing fire safety guidance. Be a member of the IFSM or IFE. (This is desirable, not essential). Need to have some experience in residential fire risk. Have a suitable fire door inspector qualification. (This is desirable, not essential). Have a reasonable knowledge of construction, upgrades and refurbishment would be preferred. (Whilst this is not a building surveyor role, this would be preferred). Be able to work on their own initiative and have an ambition to self-improve and be part of a team. Have a clean driving licence. Good interpersonal skills. Good written communication and report skills.
