About the Team
The Commercial and Contracts Team leads and coordinates the Council’s Commercial and Procurement activities, including but not limited to:
Commercial Opportunities: Identifying commercial investment opportunities to deliver social values and environmental benefits in line with the Council Plan and generate financial returns.
Procurement Opportunities: Commissioning and monitoring contract management, procurement, and asset portfolio management.
Traded/Commercial Activities: Monitoring and developing traded activities to ensure that benefits are maximised for the Council and citizens.
Maximise Benefits: Ensuring the Council maximises:
* Benefits from strategic supplier relationships.
* Returns on all assets.
Commercial Culture: Developing a strong commercial culture, including effective procurement and contract management, with the right skills and capacity across the organisation.
About the Role
This role will play a central part in ensuring that Warwickshire County Council’s procurement is compliant with the new Procurement Act, which comes into effect on the 28th October 2024. Additionally, with Third-Party spend being a significant part of the Council’s financial activity, this role will also drive financial efficiencies for the organisation by helping the Council adopt an “informed client” approach to procurement.
Key Requirements
* 5 plus years in a senior procurement role
* Significant experience of high value, high risk complex procurements
* Experience of working within a commercially focused environment
* Leadership experience
