Chronos Energy is currently looking for a Senior Design Engineer who will be responsible for designing and developing mechanical systems for a range of renewable energy heat network projects. These will include 4th and 5th generation heat networks, energy centre and distribution through multi occupancy developments, including new-build housing developments, hotels, schools and commercial buildings.
The desired candidate will be working as part of the mechanical design team to deliver projects from feasibility through to construction. This is a technical role and will enable you to work on all parts of the project from upfront strategic planning, right through to project management and implementation.
Job requirements
The ideal candidate for the Senior Design Engineer role will possess a unique blend of industry experience, strong time management and coordination skills, and a comprehensive understanding of heat networks and district energy centres, essential for driving our constant improvement process.
Education:
* A bachelor's degree in building services or a related field is preferred, but HNC will be considered alongside experience
* A master's degree or professional certifications in HVCA and Building services, such as MEng, will be highly regarded
* MCIBSE and CEng preferred, but can be worked towards
Experience and Skills:
* Commercial and domestic heat pump experience
* Ideally at least 10 years of HVCA mechanical/electrical design experience
* Professionally qualified to at least Higher National Certificate Level
* Ideally a Chartered Engineer or working towards Chartership status (the company would support in this)
* Experience in Mechanical engineering, engineering consultancy and/or Mechanical installations
* Experience in design packages e.g., AutoCAD, REVIT, COMSOF
* Working knowledge of heat networks and utility services
* Good working knowledge of industry regulations, M&E design, and installations
* Experience in Plantroom design and coordination
* Knowledge of CP1 and Heat Networks
* Experience in electrical design
* Knowledge of Revit
Job responsibilities
* As a senior designer, you will play a pivotal and collaborative role within the current design team contributing to new project design, enhancing existing designs
* Reporting to the Principal Design Engineer, assisting and coordinating design priorities with the client and project deliverables
* Optimising design for both ambient and traditional heat network designs to comply with CP1
* Production of calculations, specifications and technical submittals
* Technical support to the operations department
* Liaison with client design team, involvement in design development through to construction issue drawings.
* Assisting with production of Revit 3D models, currently outsourced
* Updating and providing basic 2D cad drawings, supported with a CAD technician
* Ensuring compliance with CIBSE and HNTAS
* Continuous improvement in design and innovation
