An exciting and unique opportunity has arisen in one of the best performing Endoscopy units in the country. You will be joining our unit in this newly created post which will be instrumental in developing and improving the recently relocated Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) service.
As a highly trained, experienced, and dedicated Endoscopy nurse you will be able to act as a specialised assistant to ensure patients are supported before, during and after their procedure. You will work in partnership with pre-assessment and practice education to improve the patient experience and ensure slots are utilised efficiently and effectively. You will train and support junior endoscopy nurses, using a competency-based approach to ensure safe and consistent Endoscopy Nurse support for therapeutic procedures. You will use your experience and expertise to help develop and implement a high-quality complex endoscopy service. You will work within the department to provide the highest standards of patient care using and disseminating evidence-based practice and national and local protocols.
• Be an enthusiastic role model providing clinical leadership in therapeutic endoscopy and demonstrating high standards of behaviour and professionalism, through commitment of the integration of policies and procedures with role and workplace.
• Incorporating evidence / research-based practice. The post holder will assess, plan implement and evaluate individualised pathways of care for patients.
• Will co-operate with staff from other departments to develop effective channels of communication and to provide a safe and caring environment for patients, relatives, and members of the multidisciplinary team.
• Develop clinical standards, policies and procedures to ensure a high-quality service is delivered.
• Assist / undertake audit to ensure that the service provision complies with agreed clinical standards, policies, and procedures.
• Promote innovation in clinical practice by obtaining, evaluating, and disseminating information to support the clinical decision making.
• Empower and motivate team members to develop their skills and knowledge to promote a cohesive team structure.
• Co-operate with the team to ensure an appropriate skill mix of personnel able to provide specialist care and provide learning support/ opportunities for staff development if required.
• Assist in the assessment and evaluation of the professional performance of all staff through clinical professional development (CPD) and clinical supervision.

ERCP is a highly specialised, complex, and life-saving gastrointestinal endoscopic procedure used to treat conditions of the biliary and pancreatic system. ERCPs account for only circa 2.5% of all adult endoscopic activity, highlighting the specialist nature of this procedure.You will support and maintain this high-level endoscopic service.
You will be expected to deliver clinical patient facing care for approximately 80% of working time and the remaining 20% would be dedicated to service development including audit, research and clinical governance.
