PE Global is recruiting a Mechanical Development Engineer for our manufacturing client based in Peterborough. The role is an initial 12-month contract and the role is Hybrid - 3 days on site. The rate range for this role is £35.37 - £48.01 p/h.
Requirements:
1. Plan and deliver air/fuel system/component development projects to time, cost and quality goals.
2. Communicate project status and key issues to peers, stakeholders and management.
3. Lead design reviews to gain cross-functional business support for new designs, supplier nomination and capital investment.
4. Collaborate with suppliers to develop specifications and deliver quality solutions through APQP.
5. Assess technical risk through FMEA; define and coordinate simulation and validation activities (DVP&R).
6. Investigate and resolve technical issues using 8D methodology.
7. Collaborate with Product Management to understand customer needs and design requirements.
8. Write and review technical information and technical reports to support production design release.
9. Collaborate with global teams to implement engineering solutions at worldwide facilities.
10. Reflect on lessons learnt, using Lean methodology to identify improvement opportunities.
Responsibilities:
1. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline (or equivalent knowledge/experience).
2. 6-8 years of engineering or relevant experience.
3. Good understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals, engine components and/or systems and component development.
4. Good understanding of manufacturing principles and processes.
5. Understanding of combustion engine fundamentals.
6. Component development and validation.
