NHFT are currently looking to appoint a Medical Psychotherapy Tutor based at Campbell House, Northampton with work expected across multiple hospital sites within Northamptonshire.
The post is a part-time position consisting of 5 sessions (2 Direct Clinical Care and 3 SPA sessions).
The Medical Psychotherapy Tutor will be responsible for the organisation and educational governance of psychotherapy training in NHFT.
The Medical Psychotherapy Tutor will establish and support excellent communication links to doctors in training to promote a shared vision of the Trust's commitment to remaining a high-quality clinical education provider.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will:
1. Ensure that all core trainees have the opportunity to complete the psychotherapy requirements of the core curriculum.
2. Advise and support core and higher trainees in their learning by reviewing progress in psychotherapy.
3. Oversee the establishment and running of the core trainee Balint or case-based discussion group(s).
4. Provide and oversee psychotherapy assessments for patients and be responsible for ensuring sufficient cases are provided and assessed as suitable cases for core and higher trainees.
5. Oversee the waiting list of therapy cases for core trainees and higher trainees.
6. Monitor the selection of appropriate short and long therapy cases in accordance with the core curriculum.
7. Select and support appropriate psychotherapy case supervisors to supervise and assess the trainees.
8. Ensure the psychotherapy case supervisors are aware of the aims of psychotherapy training in psychiatry and are in active practice of the model of therapy they supervise according to GMC requirements.
9. Ensure the psychotherapy case supervisors are trained in the Psychotherapy Workplace Based Assessments (WPBAs).

Person Specification
Knowledge & Experience
* Full GMC Registration
* MBBS or equivalent
* GMC Specialist Registration in Medical Psychotherapy
* In good standing with GMC with respect to warning and conditions on practice
* Demonstrate commitment to shared leadership & collaborative working to deliver improvement
* Ability to work independently as well as part of a MDT
* Able to form a good working relationship with the peer group
* Willingness to undertake training and CPD in areas appropriate to this post
* Ability to work under pressure
* Willingness to participate in in-house training
Skills & Abilities
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Evidence of the ability to communicate with colleagues and staff at all levels.
* Ability to present complex information to a variety of audiences
* Ability to motivate and develop junior Medical Staff and other MDT members
* To balance individual requirements against those of the Directorate and Trust as a whole
* An understanding of the political and financial framework within which the Services operate
* Post holder will need to take initiative and work in a self-directed manner
* Able to plan and deliver postgraduate teaching and training relevant to this post
