To work as part of a team and also work independently and using own initiative to deal with problems, enquiries and urgent requests referring to the senior pharmacy technician or a pharmacist if necessary.
To use professional judgement to make appropriate decisions based on evaluating facts and options e.g. supply problems with urgent items.
To act as an accredited checking Pharmacy Technician undertaking the final check and release of prescriptions dispensed by other pharmacy staff, including pharmacy graduates and qualified pharmacists.
To dispense and issue prescriptions, providing advice and information on medicines to patients, carers and nursing staff.
To undertake other dispensary duties including preparing specialist pharmacy products.
Main duties of the job

* To participate in the training and supervision of pharmacy assistants, student Pharmacy Technicians, pre-registration pharmacists and pharmacy students.

Qualifications and Training
Essential
* BTEC Level 3 in Pharmaceutical Science
* NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services
* Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council
* Accuracy Checking Pharmacy Technician accredited or working towards
* Medicines Management accredited or working towards.
Experience
Essential
* Previous experience working in a hospital setting.
* Organising dispensing workflow.

* Supervisory / Management Experience
