Our client an independent day school, are seeking a Maintenance Assistant to join their in-house facilities team. About the Role: Ensure a safe and efficient environment for students, staff, and visitors, fostering a positive atmosphere for learning and activities. Engage in minor repairs, routine maintenance, event support, and health and safety compliance, ensuring no two days are the same. Gain experience in maintenance tasks and health and safety protocols, with opportunities for further training in areas like first aid and swimming pool maintenance. Work with a dedicated team, contributing to the school's overall success and smooth operation. Key Responsibilities: Perform minor repairs and maintenance tasks, including painting, carpentry, and basic plumbing. Conduct daily cleaning of external and common areas. Monitor and report safety hazards or maintenance issues. Set up and break down furniture and equipment for school events. Support the facilities manager in coordinating with external contractors. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations. Maintenance: Undertake emergency and reactive maintenance. Assist with planned maintenance during school holidays. Maintain drains, gullies, and gutters. Keep equipment, tools, and boiler houses secure and clean. Use cleaning products and equipment safely and effectively. Support: Provide portering and event set-up services. Assist with general cleaning and logistical support during events. Direct visitors and manage parking during events. Security and Health & Safety: Be vigilant and report any security concerns. Ensure safe access to the site during emergencies. Comply with all health and safety policies and procedures. Essential Qualifications for the role: Previous experience in a maintenance role. Practical skills in general maintenance. Knowledge of health and safety regulations. Strong communication skills Team player Desirable Attributes: Experience in a school environment. First aid certification or willingness to train. Basic IT skills and good written communication.
