A local authority in Doncaster is recruiting for an experienced Accommodation Support Officer to support and assist customers in temporary accommodation, helping them transition into independent living.
THE ROLE:
As an Accommodation Support Officer, you will be responsible for:
1. Finding suitable interim accommodation for customers and placing them in temporary housing.
2. Ensuring all temporary accommodation is fully equipped, clean, and in good repair.
3. Finding suitable alternative temporary accommodation for customers when current stock is unsuitable.
4. Conducting sign-ups to temporary accommodation under a license agreement and assisting with housing benefit applications.
5. Resolving tenancy issues and enforcing occupancy agreements when necessary.
6. Liaising with Legal Services for enforcement actions and preparing cases for court.
7. Updating internal systems regarding temporary accommodation placements and subsequent moves.
8. Supporting customers in temporary accommodation to move into settled accommodation.
9. Maximizing rental income by recovering rent arrears through various methods.
10. Working with rough sleepers and partner agencies to support them into independent living.
11. Providing specialist advice to customers experiencing domestic abuse.
12. Managing customer expectations to achieve sustainable accommodation outcomes.
THE CANDIDATE:
The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a similar role and the following qualifications and skills:
1. Knowledge of Part 6 and 7 of the Housing Act and experience using homeless legislation.
2. Understanding of equality and diversity, health and safety, and value for money principles.
3. Experience working with internal and external agencies such as Social Services and the Police.
4. Experience applying policies and procedures related to tenancy conditions and income management.
5. Hold a full UK driving license and access to a vehicle for business usage.
THE CONTRACT:
37 Hours Per Week, 08:30 to 17:00 Monday to Friday
12 Weeks (potential temp to perm)
